I thought I would post a quick initial field report and pics of my new 2019 Specialized Diverge. I bought this mainly as a bike path and gravel grinder – and for a change of pace from my full suspension mountain bikes. This post is mostly photos, so enjoy.
Great Moments in Senior Cycling…
Well, I decided to get out for a quick 15-20 mile gravel grinder at lunch today. I was about three miles from getting back home, and I was coming up a long, gradual incline. Up ahead, I spotted a scruffy older gentleman in overalls on a trike. You know the type: three 26 inch wheels […]
Ride Report: Santa Cruz 5010 / Solo
Santa Cruz 5010 / Solo: “Jack of all trades; master of many…” I recently had the opportunity to “test ride” a 2015 Santa Cruz 5010. [edit: I fess up – I bought it…] The bike I rode was the 5010C – the carbon-frame version. When this bike was first introduced, it was named the “Solo;” however, […]
A Renaissance in Mountain Biking?
What interesting times we live in. Not since the late 1980s and early 1990s have I seen so many new and cool mountain bikes and components. Back in “the day” (80s/early90s), the industry and product category were replete with artisan builders of both frames and components. We saw so many notable (and not so notable) […]
Notes From the Field: Burning Daylight on the MTB – 2013
A quick update from the woods: As we head into November, the weather can change any day. At this time of year in Colorado, us bikers are “burning daylight.” As a matter of fact, we are expecting colder temperatures and snow later this week. I just seized the opportunity and took a nice spin on […]
Why I (Sometimes) Ride Alone
Yes, I admit it. When I ride my mountain bike (MTB), I usually go alone. When the subject comes up in conversation, you should see the looks on peoples’ faces. It’s almost like, “poor guy, I wonder why he doesn’t have anyone to ride with?” In reality, nothing could be farther from the truth. I […]
Christmas Eve 2012 Update
My how time flies. I’ve been busy at work, but also trying to spin the pedals as often as I can. Fortunately, the weekend weather has generally been cooperative. I’ve been riding at the nearby park pretty much every weekend with only a small amount of snow and ice. On Christmas Eve, I jumped on […]
Labor Day Weekend 2012. Mission Accomplished.
Well, looks like Labor Day Weekend 2012 is a wrap. We pretty much just hunkered down near home base….holiday weekend travel is reserved strictly for the amateurs – haha! I was able to knock out some projects for the office, do some paperwork here at the house, ride 30-40 miles of singletrack on the Yeti […]
Tout Terrain Metropolitan – a purpose-built commuter
While visiting Nuremburg, Germany a couple of years ago, I couldn’t help but notice all of the cool commuter bikes lining the streets. Upon returning home, I did some research and contacted Peter White of Peter White Cycles. I had checked out Peter’s web site and noticed a really cool Tout Terrain commuter, the “Metropolitan.” […]
